Come join John in a morning practice to open the body and mind.  You don't need to know Lu Jong to join the class.  John will teach 21 Lu Jong movements as well as holding a regular practice. 

What to Bring:

  1. Comfortable clothes to move in such as yoga clothes

  2. Yoga mats and cushions are available at Mayu, and you may bring your own

  3. Re-closable water bottle

  4. A friend!

Tog Chöd, the Wisdom Sword practice is a combination of body postures, movements, and visualizations based in the Yaman and Kalachakra dances of Tibet. This dynamic practice empowers empowers us to reduce our fears and expectation, dissolve our mental imprints and overcome our negative emotions.

The Tog Chöd practice was developed by Tulku Lobsang Rinpoche, Buddhist master and Doctor of Tibetan Medicine. This demo is being presented by John Nangle, one of only six teachers in North America certified by Rinpoche to teach the Tog Chöd practice. John will present some of the philosophy and history of Tog Chöd as well as demonstrate the practice itself. John will also have extra swords in case you feel like giving Tog Chöd a practice!

Although Tog Chöd can be a very powerful and dynamic practice, it is taught slow at first to ensure proper attention to the dance with the sword. After your are comfortable with the movements, a more advanced practice is to do Tog Chöd while embodying the energies of the Five Elements of Earth, Water, Wind, Fire, and Space. Tog Chöd is accessible to people of almost any age. Come try it!

What to bring:

  1. Come as you are, even if you think you might want to swing a sword!

A class on the full Tog Chöd practice is being held through Denver Parks and Rec beginning Tuesday Sept 17, and going through Nov 21. John will be providing additional information about the class at this demo.
